Dorothea Lange Inspiration Pictures

For this project, I tried to imitate Dorothea Lange's style of capturing people while doing an activity. Dorothea Lange photographed people while doing an activity or people facing a struggle; she was a photojournalist. Dorothea's pictures were candid, and so I tried to photograph art classes, friends and my family doing daily life activities.

  1. Ramona, nice job working with Dorothea Lange as an inspiration. I like that you capture daily life at drew. However, I'd like to more variety of actions and emotions. My favorites are the 1st and the 3rd. They are the strongest. They capture the lives of these people well and show emotion. This makes them feel more like a photo journal picture. Good Work!

  2. My favorite pictures are the first one and the last one. I can really see the action and struggle in the first picture, and also in the second picture; it would be better if the last picture were not so blurry. The pictures have an element of candidness, but I suggest capturing subjects when they are not aware and actively doing an activity. In the third picture, the image is not quite dynamic and could be more interesting.

  3. Great job capturing photos that are similar to Dorothea Lange. I really love all your pictures especially the first and the third. You can really see the emotions conveyed in each of those pictures. The last picture is a bit blurry so maybe next time try to have a greater variety of actions displayed as well as making sure that they are all in focus.

  5. These are all great photos. You really captured the essence of Dorothea Lange. The last photo is slightly out of focus so next time make sure that all your photos are clear.
