Portraits

For this assignment, we had to take pictures of people that had a relaxed expression. They weren't smiling, or doing any facial expressions. We didn't use props and we used a white background. This assignment was inspired by the photographer; Richard Avedon. He used this same technique to show the vulnerability of the model.

  1. Richard Avedon is clearly evident in your photos. You use the black and white effect and the square frame like he does. You also do a good job of holding the model's eye contact. While the model's do look vulnerable, maybe next time try to get more of a variety of emotions. Also try bringing the brightness or highlights up when you're editing these. The photos seemed a little dark and it was hard to really grasp the emotion of the model. Good Work!

  2. These are really great photos and you were able to capture Richard Avedon's style! I think all of these photos show vulnerability and capture real emotions. Next time maybe try to make the photos a bit brighter. Really nice work!

  3. The emotions shown do express a sense of vulnerability of the subjects; however, a variety of emotions would strengthen your compilation. Next time, make your pictures brighter because the facial features are difficult to see clearly. Nice job with the square frames and using Richard Avedon's style.

  4. These photos are all really well taken but when you edit them I would be careful to lighten them up because they are a little dark.

  6. To me, the first three photos looked the same, but I liked the way you put three of one model and then three of the other and with a completely different emotions of the two. Also this is the second time that I've seen Lindsey making a really angry and mad and sassy face for these batches and I thought that was funny.
